The evaluation of the results of the reproduction of mares and its objectification

The aim of this work was find out appropriate reproduction parameters for horses, through the use of which it is possible evaluate fruitfulness of reproduction of horses. This work evaluates number of factors that may influence successful reproduction. The following factors were evaluated: the term of serving, the breed of mare, the effect of a stallion and a station, the age of served mares, the sequence of seasons and the jump of stallion.From the results of this diploma work it is evident, that the reproduction parameters have in the horse breeding their sense, in spite of the fact, that they haven´t got such predicative values, like in the cattle breeding. For the evaluation of the reproductive ability it is appropriate to register pregnancy after first serving, which is at the level from 40 to 60%, the insemination index, resp. index of serving, that was found between 1,8 and 5,12 in the evaluated breedings and the fertility percentage, which value achieve 80%. It was proved, that the main factor influencing the value of the reproduction parameters of mares is a breeder.
